Somaliland Delegation Going to New York Over New Government

The minister of information and national guidance of Somaliland, Ali Muhammad Waran-Adeh, has issued a press statement saying that a ministerial level Somaliland delegation will tomorrow leave for Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and the UN headquarters, New York.

The minister said the delegation, consisting of the minister of aviation and air transport, Abdullahi Muhammad Nim'aleh, the minister of health, Dr Abdi Aw Dahir and the minister of foreign affairs, Mahmud Farah Nur Fagareh, who heads the delegation, will deliver President Muhammad Ibrahim Egal's message to President Thabo Mbeki of South Africa, President Daniel arap Moi of Kenya and Kofi Annan, the UN secretary-general.

The minister says the message reaffirms the government and its people's stand that the so-called [Somali] government set up in Arta [in Djibouti] does not concern Somaliland, and warns of the danger the new political development poses to the Horn of Africa.

The delegation will also discuss bilateral ties with leaders of the countries they are going to visit.
